Highest September on record for new car registrations

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reported new car registrations in the UK reached their highest ever making September the 43rd consecutive month of growth. So far in 2015, 2,096,886 cars have been registered with 462,517 cars registered in September. September is usually the most popular month for new car registrations hence growth was expected, however a big contribution has been affordable 65 plate deals, a demand in all fuel types and from private and fleet business buyers. All market groups saw an increase in vehicle registrations; diesel and petrol cars in September grew 4.1% and

alternatively-fuelled vehicles (AFVs) grew 21.7%. The total year-to-date growth is 3.1% for diesel, 9.5% for petrol and 48.7% for AFVs. Hills have adopted Value Stream Mapping through the help of Business Growth Unlimited, a business consultancy that offer practical guidance and accredited training. With Value Stream Mapping in place our Production Team have been able to better manage and boost production during the months of new car registrations to cope with the growing demand.

Shelley braved the shave

The Brave the Shave events help to raise much-needed funds for the Macmillan Cancer Support, who provide vital support during diagnosis, through treatment and beyond. After hearing the Macmillan Brave the Shave challenge on the local radio, Shelley thought “Why not?!” So on Wednesday 19th August, Shelley went under the clippers.

Not only was Shelley brave and ‘bald’ but she exceeded her target of £500 and raised £1,340 for Macmillan Cancer Support. We’re so very proud of Shelley and have the utmost respect for her courage to support such a marvellous cause.

Developing skills at Hills

Most of you know Victoria De La Rue (Vicky) as one of the most outstanding, hardworking and passionate employees of Hills. Vicky started in 2001 as an Internal Sales Assistant, was promoted to Internal Sales Manager and then to Office Manager in January 2015. The decision to promote Vicky to Office Manager was due to the growth of the business and employee head count and a demand for a further focus on HR activities.

Vicky’s knowledge of the company, enthusiasm and initiative are remarkable and admirable and we believe that her transition to Office Manager will enhance the overall daily operations of the business. Hills would like to congratulate and wish Vicky all the best in her new role.
